The maiden Mayor’s Pickleball Trophy will be held at Sambhaji Krida Sankul on December 5. After the State government approving the game in the category of School sports, Pickleball is all set to become part of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s annual sports fest.
This tournament is interschool and intercollege sport competition and will be open for all who are under 19 years of age.
Matches will be organized in single and doubles category. Players from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane will participate in competition.
“Two state-level inter-school Pickleball competitions have been organised by the Maharashtra State Government’s Directorate of Sports and Youth Services so far. Now, there will be Pickleball Mayor Cup. This amazing game is fastest growing game in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane as well as in other parts of country such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkahand, Bihar Puducherry, Dadar Nagar Haveli and Delhi,” said Chetan Kate, organizer and Secretary of Mumbai Suburb District Pickleball Association.
Mayor Snehal Ambekar is scheduled to inaugurate the proposed Mayor’s Pickleball Trophy, to be held at Sambhaji Krida Sankul, also known as Andheri Sports Complex.
