Navi Mumbai : On 1st February 2015, A new game has been introduced in Navi Mumbai. Which Navi Mumbaikar’s enjoyed it a lot. Because it is easy to understand, easy to learn and easy to play also. This game was participated in “Happy Streets”, event of citizens and run by The Times of India Group. Near about 500 people, including Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare and Maharashtra State BJP secretary Prof. Varsha Bhosale played it. Citizens of Navi Mumbai played their favourite game on every Sunday, early morning 7am to 10 am at main Palm Beach Road under “Happy Streets”. It was TOI’s event for people, supported by Navi Mumbai Traffic Police and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. People used to play various games activities on Palm Beach Road, between Vazirani Sport Academy to TS Chankya signal, as play area. There were many games in the beginning of event, and after some weeks Pickleball has entered in this “Happy Streets” and draws Navi Mumbaikar’s attention. Rajesh Waghmare has took initiative to launch Pickleball in Navi Mumbai, with the help of Sunil Valavalkar, General Secretary of All India Pickleball Association(AIPA). Sunil Valavalkar, along with his team Amey Kulkarni, Jay Suryaji, Rahul Poojari from Goregaon has given full support to start this game in satellite city Navi Mumbai. Pickleball started to attract people’s attention from very first Sunday. Hence lot of people were asking questions like what is name of game? What are rules? how to play? where is training available? Large number of people give a try. School students didn’t want to stop them from playing Pickleball. NRI complex resident and students of SPS Siya Salunke are one of them. She has played Pickleball for all six weeks of “Happy Streets”. According to her father Dr. Rahul Salunke, she was eager to play Pickleball.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare and Additional Commissioner Jagnnath Sinnarkar visited to Pickleball court and hits ball. Pickleball lovers has celebrated Women’s Day as “Let’s Pickle On the Ground” on 8th March. On that day Pickleball was available for onlywomen’s, because of it is ideal game for women’s also. Maharashtra State BJP Secretary Prof. Varsha Bhosale visited “Let’s Pickle On the Ground” to encourage women’s. Sports Teachers Rupali & Madhavi, Civil Engineer Aruna Patil was also present. Six weeks of “Happy Streets”, near about 500 people played Pickleball. Officer of GPO Kunal Patil, Additional Commissioner of Sales Tax Jeevan Nirmal, Member of Rotary Club of Satelite City Navi Mumbai Mangala Ghorpade, Activist of Stree Mukti Sanghatana Sangeeta Saraf, Activist of Tree conservation Aaba Ranaware, Faiz Ahemad, Nitin, Abhishek Ranware, Pranil More, Manas Gupta, Abhishek Tiwari and students of Ramrao Adik Institute of Engineering Chetan Attrade, Kalpita Malvankar, Pooja Patil, Sweta Tiwari, Harsh, Shaaj, Cinmay Baitule, Tanmay Baitule and many more have attended Pickleball sessions.
